BACKLASH, Year 5


Match 1. Jeff Hardy vs. Umaga
Umaga connected with a huge running kick to the side of Jeff's head. Jeff made it back to his feet and tried to wear down the beast by using his speed. Umaga was too tough as he landed a powerbomb and a superplex before getting the win.

Match 2. CM Punk vs. William Regal
Regal and Punk exchanged blows in the corner. Regal then busted Punk open with an elbow to the face. Regal lifted Punk up and landed a rolling senton. Regal finished off the rookie with a half nelson suplex and got the win.

Match 3. Randy Orton vs. Christian   WWE Intercontinental Championship
Christian looked to end it early as he connected with the Killswitch. Christian then landed a reverse DDT. Orton went for a diving cross body, but Christian caught him and hit a fall away slam. After many near falls, Orton hit the RKO, but Christian kicked out. Orton was laying on the mat. Christian went for a diving splash, but Orton kipped up and caught Christian mid-air with an RKO to win.

Match 4. Rob Van Dam vs. Edge
Edge landed a swinging neck breaker and then busted RVD open with a DDT. Edge later hit the Edge-O-Matic, but RVD kicked out. RVD connected with a super kick. A bloody RVD hit Edge with the rolling senton. He then won after a second super kick.

Match 5. Ric Flair and Batista vs. Christian and Tomko   World Tag Team Championship
Will Christian go 0-2 in title matches tonight? Tomko busted Flair open with a shot with the steel steps. Tomko then landed his brain buster on Flair through the announce table. Christian landed a flapjack on Batista, but he got right up and hit the Batista Bomb and won.

Match 6. Shawn Michaels vs. Big Show
Michaels tried taking down Show with multiple punches, but it wasn't working. Show grabbed HBK by the neck and went for the Showstopper, but Michaels countered it into a DDT. Show lifted him up and hit a military press slam and busted him open with a few right hands. Michaels blocked a punch, connected with Sweet Chin Music and won.

Main Event. Extreme Rules - Kane vs. Triple H   World Heavyweight Championship
They quickly left the ring. Kane hit Triple H multiple times with a mop. Triple H, somehow, busted Kane open after a shot to the face with the world title. Back in the ring, Kane hit Triple H with a Pedigree. Kane then back suplexed him onto the steel steps. Kane caught Triple H with a chokeslam to retain the title.

Recap: Decent pay-per-view. No titles changed hands. The IC title match was probably the best.
