SUMMERSLAM, Year 2

The original card was weird. There wasn't a WWF Championship match.

Match 1. Hardcore - Stevie Richards vs. Godfather vs. Test vs. Gangrel
It didn't take long for weapons to be involved. There was a ladder, crutch, sledgehammer and kendo stick. Test hit Godfather over the head with the kendo stick outside the ring. Gangrel locked Richards in a chin lock and forced him to tap. Quick, painless opening match.

Match 2. Chris Jericho vs. Edge vs. Val Venis   WWF Intercontinental Championship
Where did Val Venis come from? I was expecting a one-on-one match. This match went a little over 18 minutes. They spent some time outside the ring as Jericho landed a headbutt on Val. Back in the ring, Val hit Edge with the Big Package suplex. Edge got up and hit the Downward Spiral. After some tag team moves, Val hit Edge with a half nelson release suplex. Edge hit the Electric Chair Drop on Val. Jericho hit Edge with a swinging neck breaker and won. Jericho retains again.

Match 3. Lita vs. Trish Stratus vs. Stephanie McMahon   WWF Women's Championship
This was another 18-minute triple threat match. Lita and Trish worked together as they hit Stephanie with a double DDT. They did it again about five minutes later. Trish accidentally clotheslined Lita and Stephanie hit Lita with a Lou Thesz Press. Lita hit Trish with a Twist of Fate. Stephanie tossed Lita into the corner. Trish hit Stephanie with a Chick Kick and won. Trish is once again Women's champion.

Match 4. Stone Cold vs. Big Show vs. Chris Benoit
The third triple threat match in a row. Austin and Big Show hit Benoit with a double chokeslam. Undertaker ran down. Big Show speared Chris Benoit, but Taker broke up the pin. Taker then hit Show with a Tombstone as Austin hit the Stunner on Benoit and won.

Match 5. Edge and Christian vs. Brothers of Destruction   WWF Tag Team Championship
Will Big Show seek retribution on Undertaker? Edge and Christian hit Taker with a sidewalk slam/reverse DDT combo. A few minutes later, Undertaker blocked Christian's punch and hit him with the chokeslam. Edge hit Kane with the Downward Spiral and Christian took out Taker to secure another victory.

Match 6. The Rock vs. Kurt Angle
Rock landed a tornado DDT and then tossed Angle into the ropes. He landed a hip toss, but Angle was back to his feet. Angle hit Rock across the forehead with an elbow and busted him open. Angle hit a falling neck breaker and the Angle Slam to win. Kurt Angle picks up a huge PPV win.

Main Event. Mankind vs. Triple H w/Stephanie McMahon  WWF Championship
Triple H is donning new attire for the match. Triple H brought in a chair and hit Mankind. He then landed the Pedigree, but he kicked out. Mankind went to use Mr. Socko, but Triple H blocked it. Triple H landed a back suplex and his signature spine buster. Mankind was able to get up and use Mr. Socko. Triple H locked in a sleeper hold, but Mankind broke out and hit a back suplex. Triple H then drove his knee into the gut of Mankind and got the win. Stephanie did a great job distracting the ref from making the pin.

Recap: The first two triple threat matches were great. I'm interested to see why Undertaker attacked Big Show. Let the games begin.
