October Week 1, Year 5

Raw

Match 1. Justin Gabriel vs. Zack Ryder

Match 2. Matt Hardy vs. Cody Rhodes

Match 3. Heath Slater and David Otunga vs. Jeri-Show

Big Show was taking on both opponents. He clocked Slater with a right hand and speared Otunga. The match then spilled to the outside where Otunga busted Jericho open after slamming his head against the steel post. Big Show landed the Showstopper on Otunga and won.

Match 4. Rey Mysterio vs. Wade Barrett

Rey kicked Wade a few times before landed a Lou Thesz Press. He then hit the 619 and West Coast Pop, but Barrett kicked out. Barrett hit a huge clothesline in the corner before connecting with Wasteland. Rey landed a flying head scissors and hurricanrana and got the win.

Main Event. Kane vs. Sheamus

Both big men traded punches. Kane then caught him with a side slam. Later, Sheamus went for the Irish Curse, but it was countered. Kane hit the chokeslam, but got a one count. Sheamus blocked a right hand by Kane and hit the Celtic Cross to win.

SmackDown

Match 1. Drew McIntyre vs. Kofi Kingston
The young Scotsman gets a shot at one-half of the tag champs. Kofi landed a huge leg drop from the top and then hit the Boom Drop. Kofi got some near falls. Drew got up and hit the Future Shock DDT. Kofi kicked out and hit Trouble in Paradise to win.

Match 2. Epico vs. John Morrison

Match 3. Jack Swagger vs. R-Truth

Match 4. Christian vs. The Miz

Miz blocked a punch from Christian and hit him with a snap DDT. Christian was able to kick out and make a comeback. The two then got into a pinning battle with some near falls. Christian then hit Miz with the Killswitch. Miz kicked out. He later locked in a reverse chin lock and won.

Main Event. Jeff Hardy vs. CM Punk

Hardy broke out of a camel clutch and landed an arm breaker. Punk landed a brain buster and standing heel kick. He then hit the Go To Sleep to win.

Recap: Both shows put on some good matches. I like where the Universe is heading.
